Day wise Itinerary

Day 01: Arrive in Manali

Upon reaching Manali, our ground team will coordinate your arrival and update you on the meeting point. Transfer to Hotel Kanishka or a similar accommodation to meet your fellow riders. After a delicious lunch, take a short orientation and acclimatization ride.

The Tripoclan & Dare2Gear team will conduct a briefing session in the evening to prepare you for the upcoming 10-day cycling expedition. Retire early for a well-rested start to this thrilling adventure.

Day 02: Manali to Sissu | 40 km

Rise early for a healthy and delicious breakfast before starting our Manali-Leh + Khardungla cycle tour right from the hotel. Hop on your bikes and begin this memorable expedition, riding past Solang Valley—an adventure sports hub for activities like paragliding rope courses, and horse riding. We’ll then cross the Atal Tunnel, the world’s highest single-tube highway tunnel at over 10,000 feet (9.02 km long). Enjoy lunch at ATAL Cafe in Sissu near Sissu Lake before checking into Hotel Aliyas (or similar) to rest for the day.

Day 03: Sissu to Jispa | 53 km

Start the day with a gradual climb followed by an exhilarating downhill ride to Tandi, where the sacred Chandra and Bhaga rivers merge. This site holds great significance in Hindu belief. Continue towards Kyelang (Keylong), the district headquarters of Lahaul and Spiti, known for its scenic beauty and essential government facilities. Enjoy lunch in Kyelang before proceeding to Jispa, where we check in at Hotel Padma Lodge or similar.

Jispa marks the transition from the green belt to a low-oxygen zone. Until we reach Lato, the landscape transforms into barrel mountains and giant rocky formations, offering breathtaking views throughout the ride.

Day 04: Jispa to ZingZingBar | 31 km

Start the day with an easy ride as we pedal towards ZingZingBar. Leaving behind the quaint hamlet of Jispa, we enter a rugged rocky terrain with descents leading to Patseo. Today marks our first encounter with complete isolation from the outer world as we ride into the low-oxygen zone.

After reaching Patseo, the journey gradually climbs to Upper ZingZingBar, where we conclude the day’s ride. Freshen up and enjoy a hot-served dinner, followed by a relaxing night in the company of fellow riders. Tonight is our first shared evening under the same roof, and we are resting well for the challenges ahead.

Day 05: ZingZingBar to Sarchu | 41 km

After breakfast, we begin our ascent toward Baralacha La via ZingZingBar on smooth roads with minimal traffic. Crossing Baralacha La, we are greeted by the stunning Mountain Desert. We descend to Bharatpur and continue to Sarchu, our destination for the day. We celebrate reaching the halfway mark of our expedition with a group and solo photoshoot, marking a significant milestone in our adventure.

Day 06: Sarchu to Pang | 80 km

Gear up for one of the expedition’s most adventurous and challenging days as we conquer two mountain passes in a single ride!

From our campsite, we start on a rolling terrain leading to the iconic Gata Loops, a series of 21 thrilling hairpin bends. Once at the top, we ease into a gentle rolling stretch before beginning our ascent to the third pass, NakeeLa. The adventure continues as we climb to Lachlung La, where breathtaking panoramic views make every effort worthwhile.

After conquering the high-altitude terrain, we descend to Pang, where we relax and unwind at a cosy homestay for the night. This is undoubtedly the most challenging day of the ride. Still, every rider has gained invaluable self-awareness about their cycling skills and endurance by now. Plan your ride strategy with your buddy rider and embrace the journey ahead!

Day 07: Pang to Lato | 103 km

Begin your morning with a short 5 km climb before reaching one of the most breathtaking routes of the expedition—the Morey Plains. This scenic stretch features well-maintained metal roads, flanked by vast plains and majestic multi-coloured mountains on the other, creating a surreal landscape.

Next, we ascend to Taglang La Pass, the second-highest motorable pass of the journey, standing at 5,328 meters above sea level. This challenging 19 km climb rewards us with stunning panoramic views before leading into an exhilarating descent towards Lato.

A thrilling 35 km downhill ride takes us to Lato Guest House, where we unwind for the night and reflect on the incredible landscapes and achievements of the day.

Day 08: Lato to Leh | 75 km

Today, we take it easy and start at leisure, enjoying a scenic ride along the River Indus from Lato to Upshi, leading us into the main town of Ladakh, Leh. Along the way, we pass through the culturally rich Hemis, Thiksey, and Shey monasteries, possibly visiting a few based on our timeline.

Upon reaching the famous Leh Gate, we continue towards our accommodation at The Himalayan Ladakh (or a similar property), marking the end of our journey into this breathtaking high-altitude town.

Day 09: Leh to Khardungla | Local Sight Seeing | 80 km

Over the past seven years, we have observed that riders often feel content upon reaching Leh. Many prefer to explore the region rather than attempt the Khardungla climb.

For those opting for sightseeing, you can visit Magnetic Hill, monasteries, and the confluence of rivers, where adventure activities are available for those interested. Lunch and any additional activities during the day will be at your own expense. After a day of exploration, we returned to our hotel in Leh for a well-deserved rest.

Day 10: Return Day

After breakfast, the day is yours to plan your return journey. Participants may fly back home or extend their stay to explore Leh and its surroundings at their own pace. If you need any assistance with planning, we are here to help. Wishing you a safe journey and unforgettable memories!

What are the road conditions and traffic like? And the type of terrain?

For our tours in the Kashmir and Ladakh regions listed on our website, we design routes that showcase scenic and must-see spots and prioritize safety. Most of our routes use paved roads and bike lanes. We stay informed about road conditions and adapt our routes if we become aware of any deterioration or construction. Some itineraries may include bike paths or back roads with stretches of hard-packed dirt or gravel (non-technical). Please check the tour webpage for details. We also offer custom itineraries and tour packages throughout Kashmir.
